Shamelessly “borrowed” from https://bovidiva.com/2017/11/13/how-to-argue-with-vegans-a-cut-out-and-keep-chart-new-and-improved/

How can you tell if someone’s a Vegan? Don’t worry they’ll tell you!

That is very frightening mind!
Apparently Veganism is growing in the UK and it’s thought to be around 2% of the population!

I had a short discussion with these mindless idiots at our only local abattoir on Monday and they were trying to convince me that as Vegans they were going to save the planet in reducing carbon and green house gasses from livestock.
In their twisted thoughts they tried to tell me that Factory farming was better for the planet than grazing livestock. Being single issue protesters they are unable to see the bigger picture and resort to vicious attacks on the people at the abattoir and the farmers going there.

With the weather getting colder their numbers at the protest seem to be shrinking, they would all be better and probably happier if they ate a good meal and wore a bit of wool and leather!

They have started protesting on Monday mornings outside our nearest small local on farm abbatoir. With a police escort! The police stopped my mate by the entrance and asked if the protestors could have 3 minutes to say goodbye to the pigs in his trailer! He said no.

vegans are divided into 2 types - those genuine well educated who get on with their choices and don't spew vile nonsense, make good choices in life and are proper environmentalists. and the other is the is the people who have spent a few hours on the net, have never been on a farm, continue to live a environmentally destructive lifestyle buying products from around the world, spend all their time and money back up global corporations, flying on holiday, driving gutsy cars and surrounded by plastics these people love to troll, spread hate and refuse to understand - say Peta. There may be a rise in veganism however these people are mostly hypocritical and are not well read. Also like to remind a few of the murders of humans that have taken place to people working in labs/animal testing over the years and also like to ask them if they refuse to take any medication or go into hospital to have a procedure that was firstly tested on animals.

Are they people living on benefits? How come they don't work or have some better environmental work they could be doing - funny that a while ago I was looking for volunteers to help plant thousands of trees didn't see anyone put their hand up.

It's not fair to treat all vegans the same anymore than farmers, although I always respect the right to make generalisations.
Protestors are just that. They will always gather around 'a cause'. It's kind of a self righteous, neo-political national service.
I think many vegans are our friends and future. They want ethical food which at the moment can only really be sourced by being a vegan.
Of course many will simply think that eating animals is simply unacceptable but a large proportion would be happy if they knew the provenance of animals having a long and 'natural' life.
This should be a huge market for lamb in particular.[ Hoggets rather than spring lamb].
'Free range milk' should be grazed cows with an average life expectancy of at least 8 years with calves life expectancy averaging over 2 years for males.
We shouldn't compete with the low cost pork and chicken which is ethically pretty undefendable.

That last paragraph sounds about right with those who hold such hard line views.

Reminds me of the Birmingham riots a few years ago. I can’t remember the issue, but there was two nights of fighting, petrol bombs, attacks on people and property, you know the kind of stuff. On the third day I watched the lunchtime news and there were various masked rioters on saying how that night was going to be hell, stepping up the riotous behaviour and telling us how devoted they were to their cause.

It rained that night and nobody turned out!

This lot strike me as the same.

The internet vegan is a much different beast to the daywalkers which most of us will come in contact with without knowing.
They want an end to all farming as they can't see the difference between the people that grow their good food and the ones who farm animals and they would happily wish death upon us.
The amount of hatred a self proclaimed compassionate person can spew on social media is quite surprising
Edit: 'was' quite surprising... less so after a few years of having it directed at you. Literally anything is fair game to them when it comes to attacking a farmer

One of my cousins was taking a trailer load of lambs in for slaughter and, oddly, only got 'targeted' on his way out of the gate of the slaughterhouse o_O. A couple of them stood in front of his pickup and said they weren't moving. He told them his trailer was empty, they said he wasn't going to be allowed to bring any more... He just turned the ignition off and got his flask out, fortunately it started p*ssing down, after a few minutes they 'took his number' and moved aside. Apparently this was not unusual for them at that time and place... I guess tactics have changed, but they have never been around that I have noticed, maybe we aren't urban enough here.

They really are not anything to worry about, they provide a little local irritation now and then, but they are easy to counter. If they get violent, stay within the law in your response. If they just verbally abuse you, smile and wave and carry on.

Apparently according to a well known celebrity chef who is currently on TV going to Mexico, 'veganism' is exploding in the US and will do the same here soon after.

They were all protesting outside our local cattle mart last week (all 4 of them)
Skinny pasty creatures...it was a cold day and as you say they didn’t stop long
