The war in Ukraine...

Some odd claims coming from Russia about Ukraine using a 'super' laser weapon...

I'm minded that it has been rumoured that, on some join exercise in the past, some soldiers from somewhere found out that if laser pointers were used to indicate 'enemy' aircraft to others around them, interesting things happened. Unfortunately it sometimes triggered the plane's on-board computer to take control from the pilot, and then to do some automatic evasive maneuvers and other things. This was quite unnerving for the pilots and some of them got rather angry about it. 🤭

No experience of this myself mind, at all... :angelic:
Dunno where you got that but Russia claims its using their "Zadira" laser Weapon to target drones

A one-year-old boy died from his injuries after being raped by Russian soldiers, Ukraine has claimed.

The boy was among more than 60 reports of rape in two days, which also included two 10-year-old boys from newly-liberated villages in the Kharkiv region, according to the Ukrainian Ombudswoman.

In a tweet on Thursday night (19 May), the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said: "Today, in just one hour, 10 reports of rape by the [Russian] occupiers, including 8 children, were received from newly liberated villages in the Kharkiv region.

"Yesterday - 56 reports. Among the children: two 10-year-old boys and a 1-year-old boy who died of his injuries."

When do you say: "Enough is enough"?

I realise that we are fighting this war by proxy but if the above is true ..............

Horrific. On the assumption that this proves to be true, well, it leaves one at a loss to fully express one's disgust and contempt.

I have for some time been of the opinion, and it is daily reinforced, that what is happening in Ukraine now, at / by the hands of Russian forces, will have repercussions for decades, if not centuries.

The societal shift from East to West, that really was not inevitable for Ukraine, and which has been taking place at little more than a snail's pace till recently, is now happening in front of us at a phenomenal rate; and it seems to me that in human terms it will be an irrevocable move.

In fact the feeling of loathing for all things associated with Russia now apparent in Ukraine, makes me wonder if they will even retain the Cyrillic script for long. Obviously time will tell.

One has to be careful to accept the report as gospel until it is verified by an independent source such as Red Cross or Medicine sans frontier

BUT it does appear that we are dealing with sub humans

What have the sub human scum done with Tara the Medic?

I suppose in the cause of balance we ought to be able to see the remains of the young Russian soldiers in the many more than 1,000 plus tanks & armoured vehicles that we all love watching being blown into so many bloody pieces, not sure that would be a very pretty sight to see & watch, we are being manipulated a little in only seeing one sides casualties in this war & before you start I'm still not a Putin supporter!

Wouldn’t be blown to pieces if they had stayed home.

I think judging by the number of military cargo aircraft flying over us and the various statements by US and other leaders that out of an abundance of caution we are preparing for a Russian escalation. Not saying it's likely. Only that we will be ready if it comes.

That's the reality of war, very different to murder, rape, torture etc of prisoners. That's a war crime, you can't compare the two.

A man has pleaded guilty at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court to waste offences relating to a bonfire next to the electrical sub-station on the Circular Road in Newtownards, Co. Down.

Gareth Gill (51) of Abbot’s Walk, Newtownards pleaded guilty to two charges under the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, for which he was fined £150 each and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy

On June 25, 2018, PSNI officers went to Gill’s yard, where they found a large amount of waste consisting of scrap wood, pallets, carpet and underlay.

Discussion with Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) officers confirmed the site...
