When did the war on drugs begin. Yet consumption of drugs in our rural market town has never been so high. Open,y traded on the high street despite being illegal.

If banning meat has the same effect as banning drugs then its bonanza time for meat producers.

They can't stop illegal stuff let alone legal products???:scratchhead:

The more the liberal elite try to prohibit stuff like booze, smoking, drugs, revving smokey engines and now meat, the more the proletariat will consume. And frankly I don't blame the proletariat. Who wants to spend an evening with a non drinking, non smoking, morally superior feminist vegan in an electric vehicle? I really can't think of anything worse.

I’ve been organic for nearly 20 years (probably coming out soon but that’s a different matter). I’ve had a read at some of thestuff the Soil Assn is putting out and I kind of agree with it. Yes they are saying people should be eating less BUT BETTER meat (as always, it’s probably folks that don’t eat very much meat anyway that hears that message, while people that load their diets with Greggs pasties and donuts, McDonald’s, takeaways etc continue, have a coronary and it was the ‘meat’ in their diet that was to blame:rolleyes:).

They also say things like:

The amount of high welfare organic and pasture-fed meat produced in the UK will actually need to increase to ensure we can all eat ‘better’ meat.

Have a read: you might be surprised by how pro red-meat they are even if you don’t agree with their organic slant on everything.

No, sorry the science is very clear on this, if the world went organic there simply would not be enough food for everyone. The nitrogen problem being the most obvious hurdle.
Of course with new plant breeding technology, GM and Gene editing we could develop crops that need less artificial nitrogen be more weather resistant and require little or no pesticide sprays, whilst maintaining the yield we need. But if the resulting crop could be marketed as pesticide free (remember organic can use natural pesticides) then it destroys the organic industry overnight, which is why groups like the SA are so against it.

Why does it feel like it’s only us as individual farmers that are either bothered or doing any kind of counter fight back? (Not just in this instance) What do the likes of ABP do as this must affect them as much as us, also assuming there’s a butchers association of some kind. Iv never understood how the likes of quorn can have a bigger advertising budget than the whole meat industry.

Was delivering our wool yesterday and the thought struck me. 100 years ago wool would have been worth decent money and probably would have been a large part of the farms output. It’s now basically worthless because of big companies synthetically manufacturing an alternative...... now the wool is the most sustainable environmentally friendly product but it’s not really helped it’s value. Textile mills have gone overseas in the same way as food production is going. I don’t know if there is a solution for us...... but someone try and cheer me up!
I thought ABP moved Into plant foods.
Wool should be more in demand but processing costs will.mean producers do not see benefit.

“We also rely on cattle for certain life-saving medicines, like insulin. Bovine insulin is nearly identical to humans'. So, the cow pancreas is often used to make insulin injections for diabetics.
Likewise, the adrenal glands are used in certain steroid drugs. Cartilage helps make medicine for people who suffer from osteoarthritis, and the lungs are used in blood thinners like heparin.
Medicine aside, we even use cattle leftovers in plastic surgery. Collagen — from the hide — is purified and injected into the face for a younger look.”

There's lies, damned lies, and statistics. Yes, I shall always be suspicious of conclusions arrived at through staistics!
Yes, but this isn't some quack. He explains his reasoning very well in many lectures and nobody has ever successfully debunked it. Not many have even tried, because they know he was and is right.

Unless she's got nice tits of course (Irony alert for those that might miss it)

Except the thought police decimated diesel cars even though non urban high mileage vehicles are probably still best for the planet as small diesels

The thought police are at it again on handsfree phones. If the police and fire service can drive responding and use handsfree, then a good ordinary driver is certainly safe. The trouble is someone will have ticked a box to say speed and a phone were involved with an RTC and then it must be those factors that are automatically at fault

Goldsmiths College decision is a massive watershed. Now it will be seen as PC to stop beef .

World’s gone mad
Goldsmiths College is nothing more than indoctrination and conformity, exactly what the left wants. For an educational facility to empower individuals to think for themselves and to take control and responsibility for their own actions, those days are sadly numbered.
Not surprisingly, the so called "uneducated" have little faith in the educational facilities....

I'm quite sceptical about anything the UN writes or says given their agendas, as I'd seriously suggest they don't care about the environment or society, all their concerned with is power and manipulation for their own employment and financial gain.
they are making sure, that the slave wages ,keep paying the rent and not buying a sausage .
its just not farming finding it self, competing for the slaves wages.
and the land lords are not going to go down with out a fight

I used to socialise with people who worked for the UN on economic and environmental policy. Seriously I wouldn't trust any of them to run the proverbial whelk stall. Most had never existed and could not survive outside of academia and had never done anything particularly useful in their entire careers.

I happily ignore their sanctimonious, politically biased and ill informed pronouncements.
i take it, you know farmers ,who can exist with out subs, that is the pot calling the kettal black

the farmers future is in the hands of farmer's alone.
if farmer's sold off the second and for some the third farm.
cut the size of the home farm down.
you will have more farmer's .
more farmers, means more votes.
a farmer with high debt ,has no say.
a lot of farmer's ,with no debt ,have the MPs calling them

To every argument there is a counter argument. Maltheus back in the 18th century had his own ideas and but for fossil fuels he would be proved right....and still may be. It is certainly happening in countries like India.

"The Malthusian trap or population trap is a condition whereby excess population would stop growing due to shortage of food supply leading to starvation. It is named for Thomas Robert Malthus, who suggested that while technological advances could increase a society's supply of resources, such as food, and thereby improve the standard of living, the resource abundance would enable population growth, which would eventually bring the per capita supply of resources back to its original level".
this has been my way of thinking from the day our govt decided to sell its assets, to its mates ,in the 80s

University spokesman on C4 news said that there is an alternative to beef, but no alternative to flying as rail or sea travel for overseas students is "not practical"

He's obviously not a scholar of history or he'd know that the Vikings, Romans, Normans etc. managed to get here without aircraft.
surely the alternative for foreign students is to study in their own country?

if cars and trucks had to pay all the cost's of roading ,you see cars and trucks gone in a heat beat

Nonsense.

The Government raises around 20bn more through various road taxes than it spends on the roads themselves. See this chart for details.

If you are going to try and drag health costs into it then nobody really knows what they are, including COMEAP, but if you do then we need to look at the economic benefits of road transport as well.

statistics are only damned lies if the person listening to them is mathematically illiterate, such as I remember hearing on the BBC that the there had been a 50% increase in hate crimes since the Brexit vote, only a useful statistic if we knew how many crimes there were numerically and a percentage of all crimes before and after, if for example there were 2 a year before and 3 a year after, 50% increase! But if there were 1000 crimes a year it has only gone up from 0.2 to 0 .3 so an insignificant rise. The BBC is a past master at this type of reporting, that gives a false headline, and they should be held account for it. Radio 4 more or less does this, however I guess not many people listen to it. But getting back to my point, often people who quote statistics are only selective in what they quote, so are being deliberately disingenuous, I just watched the you you tube video and it made great sense to me. Answer is to try to lift third world women out of poverty I think.
