What rods or wire do you use to weld onto the bucket edge? Bodged a repair on one here and the weld pool was just boiling and spitting with 6013 rods but that's all I had.

I could show you my attempt at welding vertical supports to hold a concrete panel but it’s far too embarrassing however I did weld a load of angle on stantions to sit the panels on 6” thick heavy panels none of my welds gave out !!!!! Yet 😂
Should add I don’t claim to be the best I’m still learnin, that was done off a gennie too with a cracking little arc welder

who/s the best ? that's boring anyway. as long as a weld is strong and does the repair well what does it matter if it photogenic or no. Endless pictures of showing off lots of regular jobs is just back slapping not learning useful tips etc.

that looks good repair welds ...iirc i heard somewhere that a good mild steel weld of a half an inch will lift 1/2 a tonne ?

Just Mig weld it on, with rods you would need low hydrogen really I think something like 7018? Someone on here will know more about it. These were just bog standard economy Sparex cutting edges for skidsteer buckets and were not stupidly hard to cut. Normal mig wire is a form of low hydrogen. Just welded it 4 inches at a time here and there to spread the heat and it still bowed slightly!!!

Did this a while ago. Rebuilding a worn out key way, the shaft was about 4” in diameter so would be mega bucks to get a new one
