Had to combine some unripe barley this aft to get it out of the way, couldn't stop the combine from chucking it over the back.

Moved across the road into some wheat, still chucking it over the back??
Checked everything, crawled around underneath it and inside, sieves not blocked etc etc.

Carry on, still bad.
Had another look inside, twigged that the top sieve was not moving when I moved the switch, even though it said it was.

Then when walking back to the van in the other field I noticed I'd left a triangle.

I could cry.
Not good when you get those days when nowt goes right.

Out splitting logs this evening - must do about 20 ton every year, all by hand with the splitting axe, so I suppose I just take it for granted how to do the job. One of my workshop tenants saw me at it and said could he have a go? He's a practical kind of guy, so I handed the axe over and had to stop him within 3 seconds. Both hands on the end of the handle, hoist it up, waving it around, disaster coming, so I showed him how to do it. Again and again and again, but he just couldn't get the movement co-ordinated, then he brought it down, missed the log and snapped the handle.

He was fairly apologetic, and I didn't make a fuss, these things happen. His parting words: "I'd like another go when you've repaired it."

Yes accidents happen, I've split logs since a boy but a few years ago I was chopping a few for the camp fire in a field in deepest Wales with no alcohol on my side involved I managed to bury the axe in my shin. A knotty piece and I'd taken a stronger swing and it decided to split out sideways and the axe kept going. The others called an ambulance, I was just going to see to it myself but it was taken out of my hands and when the ambulance turned up there was only the driver/paramedic who had a quick look after cutting the leg of my new trousers, bugger. The medic was on his own as it was the start of the London Olympics and his mate was covering elsewhere.
The long and short of it was that I had to go to Wrexham A&E but he couldn't take me and at 9pm on a Sunday it turned out that I was the only one who hadn't been drinking! One of my mates volunteered as he'd only had a couple of cans so I had a half drunk woman holding my leg in her lap as he did the 35mile trip to the hospital whilst the rest of my friends kept an eye on my boys in our tent.
The only saving grace was that my ex-wife lived in Wrexham and she dropped everything to come and help me at the hospital and then run me back to the campsite.
The amount of grief I've had from all my so called mates for years afterwards even down to taking my knives and forks away from me when we've got together for meals and the like and given me plastic cutlery!

Yes looks like it’s been cracked for a while, had recall before harvest to replace same part on other track with up rated one. Have to take track of as is part of main support frame, don’t think it will weld.
