A suggestion of @betweenthelines, probably long overdue for most of us, this thread seems like one with a real future to it...

I'll start, something relatively minor, but irritating nonetheless: putting in some thunderbolts to hold a mini-sleeper to a wall so I can attach some rails to it, I used the same size masonry bit as the bolts.

While instructing oldest boy how and what to do and having just said to always use a bit smaller than the intended bolts...

Fortunately after a lot of looking, I'd the next size up in store, so all was well in the end and I hardly swore at all, or looked a prat, much.

Yesterday I set a combination padlock to a new number....but didn't follow the process properly and ended up closing it and finding I couldn't open it again!!

Thankfully after 15 mins of fiddling I managed to find what I had managed to set it as and open the padlock.

I thought it had the drill bit size to use stamped on the head of the bolts with those things?

I remember pointing it out to my father after he drilled a bunch of holes too big for the bolts he had

Not today but a few years ago.

Dropped my watch in the cowshed, saw it was in the straw under a cow's belly and bent down to pick it up.

Came round in the slurry channel about ten minutes later!

Barbers (remember them?) still ask "How did you get that big scar on the top of your head ? "

Probably explains a lot though.

They do and I know it and that was what I pointed out to my boy, probably even as I was fitting the wrong f^cking bit in the drill... ?

Driving my new telehandler and managed to snap the hinges off a gate. Hinges were welded to a stanchion.

that’s the worst part, I wasn’t even going through that gate. I turned in front of it and the rear tyres hit the closed gate ?‍?‍?‍

Just got in from front retrieving milking herd from the neighbouring woods... I now know the woods have access onto the estate house gardens. Best go round a survey the damage tomorrow ??

Have you ever thought of just keeping some sheep in a field with some electric fencing? Far less room for machinery to get in your way.??
