I am currently waiting to speak with somebody at the RPA. I was initially told that I was number54 in the queue and waiting time would be 53 minutes. I am now no.11and my waiting time is 48 minutes. When somebody comes on the line dare I tell them they are in the queue and they must wait 64 minutes while I walk the dog . What a waste of an afternoon.

If it makes you feel better, i was on hold with Argos customer services for 3 hrs the other day, just trying to get a vat receipt for a new phone I bought off them ?

This is not personal to anybody . A very good family friend (40+ years)have spoken to this weekend was admitted to hospital 4 weeks ago with covid19 for a week. Been home 3weeks and still not fit. If a few hours on the phone waiting to get help is a small price. We don’t know what the shortage of call Centre staff is. They get the wrath of the people calling. Please everybody respect them how you would be like yourself and family to respected. Thank you

I've just a small place but it is stories like this that convince me I am right not to accept BPS. I had one of their acolytes here about some nonsense. When she decided to leave, I suggested she avoid the stones positioned to keep the tractors and 20 tonne lorries off my lawn. She impatiently waved my well meant advice away. I quickly went into the house. Bang! Yes, I guessed right. They only give it to you so they can take it away.

I was not really having a winge, I was passing the time while I was waiting. Anything I post on this forum is not generally out of frustration and quite a lot of the time is very much tongue in cheek. Sincerely hope your friend makes a full recovery.

It does make you wonder just where all the money that has been pledged by the government is coming from and if borrowed how and when will it be returned. The Ag industry and those reliant on it are indeed in for big changes in the near future as has been well documented. It would not be impossible for government to withhold payment of BPS or any other scheme money now we have left the EU. I am not sure that we will be paid at the end of the year just extremely hopeful.

Aren’t we in a transition period this year so although we have technically left the eu, we are also abiding by all the rules and as a country paying in what is due and receiving what we’re entitled to so this years bps shouldn’t be a matter for our government to decide upon as the bps is eu money that our government merely distribute.

Most call centre staff have been working from home since the lockdown or very soon after in most industry's.

Sorry to hear about your family friend and I hope they make a full recovery

If Boris gets his way and we are in this lockdown until there is a vaccine ( which may never be found and if it is will be at least 2 years off ) then the country will be economically finished and there wont be money for anything like the NHS let alone BPS for farmers let alone any benefits for the 20 million + that end up with no jobs.

This could well be worse than the 1930's depression but will certainly be as bad if the lockdown carry's on like Boris is planning it to do for months or years on end.

Could you not get one via email?

No unfortunately you have to call customer services to request a vat receipt, and normally it's not a problem but with staff off and everyone else working from home, it turned into a bit of a marathon.
It was what it was, no one's fault just everyone doing their best.
But what bugges me about argos, you can't request a vat receipt untill the item is delivered, then I was told I had to wait 24 hrs after delivery before I could request one.
My other purchase done at the same time on the same transaction came a few days later, they don't send a vat receipt for all the items on the transaction, but all seperate. So when the other didn't turn up, i phoned again, only to be told i would have to wait 10 days untill I was alowed request another.
So waited untill the 10 days were up, and phoned to request another (3 hrs on hold), I asked if I could have the receipt by email, sorry argos don't send by email, only by post. Took another 6 days for it to arrive ?

I'm not certain, don't you just need to have argos' vat registration number rather a receipt for HMRC to be happy?
