The world has only ten weeks of wheat left.

There is 'more than enough' wheat stored around the planet at this point in time.

It's just either in the wrong place, like Ukraine or Russia, or it exists on a mythical Chinese balance sheet. We've had 20 years of the USDA telling us that * "half the worlds available wheat is in China, prices must go down, blah blah blah".

* In the words of Warren Buffet, "its only when the tide goes out that you find out who's been swimming naked".
In 12 months time we're going to find out if the USDA's reports are as many have suspected: a load of cock and balls.

Partly.

And partly because over privileged nations governments (probably including ours) don’t really give a toss about famine on the other side of the world, as long as they’re alright and can pull the ladder up.
hit the nail on the heat there, the entitlement of the West is sometimes beyond belief (I am also thinking about us importing trained doctors/nurses from third world countries who I guess really need them to stay where they were trained)

But those foreign nurses and doctors also send home billions of £ and $ to their families in their home nations every year, which will be aided and abetted by their home governments as it strengthens their own economies. And those who do return also take world class cutting edge skills with them (pun intended).

There is one doctor who many in his country wished had never returned home, an ophthalmic surgeon who worked in Londons Western Eye Hospital before going back to Syria, to eventually become president: Bashar Al-Assad.

That's not fair. Plenty of countries do themselves a mischief and corruption without it being "the west" fault
