Thieving barstewards

5 months ago I had thieves break into my workshop with an angle grinder. They couldn't take the bike as it was on axle stands with the rear axle off and in pieces. So they put the axle grinder through the ignition barrel out of spite.

I've a special dog sleeps in the workshop now.
Before thinking of a dog, consider what a car thief told a friend. yes, a dog will keep us out, but, can he put out fires? Some people will destroy the protected item in revenge.

Kettle out of upstairs window then..

Would you actually though? They weren't aware of the theft until the next day but even if they had heard something, what are you going to do against 4 burly blokes at 3am? These people have friends and they all know where you live.

Agree with the above points, its just a matter of time before there's another Tony Martin case. I wouldn't actually mind the police's lack of action if they liberalised the laws on the defence of property, but you can't have it both ways without criminals massively benefiting.

Police here this morning quad has been found in adjacent county and is their compound I've got to inform insurance on monday and take it from there no damage other than ignition barrel
IIRC you will have to pay a release fee from police compound.

Neighbour had his stock trailer stolen a few years back, which was found behind a tranny van in Leicestershire next morning, he had to pay £115 IIRC to get it back.
Case went to court and the bloke caught with it said he’d bought it for cash and got away with it.

He chained his trailer up after that so they couldn’t take it, they had the wheels off it though.

Looks a complete waste of time, disc cutter have it off in no time. If it lives in the workshop there will probably be tools and power available, stored anywhere else the grinder sparks will probably set the farm alight.

This,

they will only stop if they actually fear for their chances of making it in and out, in america apparently this theft just dont happen as the thief would not make it out so they dont bother (only what ive heard for Americans)

alarm the building its in and get a tracker,

The poilce said they have watched cameras and no matter how elaborate locks etc you have they will spend hours carefully and quietly removing them, she said they have spent upto 3 hrs at properties.

I didn't bother putting a new ignition barrel on ours when we got it back from a similar trip down the road.

Keep thinking about putting a tracker on but the insurance company only give the 10% discount if the insurance companies are so sure that track is a good idea why only give a 10% discount why not 50%.

Indeed, if trackers are that good they will save them a small fortune, they won’t have to pay out on recovered bikes and if they also result in the thieves being caught it will hopefully cut down the number of thefts.

One of our tele handlers was found in a wood 40 miles away police said they were watching it to catch thieves of course you can guess the rest
Hopefully like the stolen car that stopped because of a road block just past where I was working....
they didn't get far when the thin blue line got the long batons out, absolutely hilarious ???
