I'm hoping for an Indian summer from the 12th of September to get any second cut silage wrapped up and leave the fields clean for winter. Yellow rain warnings for the weekend it seems.

Think an Indian Summer is correctly used to refer to the warm settled period of weather, often into October, before the autumn storms begin. I believe the Indian bit refers to the North American Indians and the last opportunity it afforded them to stock up with berries and fruits and stuff before winter.

Hoping for an Indian Sumer next week, so we can get the Spring Barley in the shed. Next door still has some Winter Barley to do yet, so I guess he’s waiting for it too.
