There Is A Deal For Christmas!!

Having driven along the length of the M20 today and also seen the pictures of Manston it is perhaps no surprise that a Deal has been done according to the media this evening.

I am not sure those 6,000 plus truck drivers stuck in Kent and the South East will be very impressed as most will be hoping they will get home for the New Year and Manston is a God forsaken place in summer.
It is with sober realisation when you drive past all those parked up trucks that Trade may be more important than Politics and this disaster for the companies and their drivers occurred in just over 36 hours.

The small print will be the Devil that decides who has come out of this four and a half year marathon the best, I have a feeling the Brexiteers will be disappointed and the Remainers will be frustrated for many years as they will not be able to travel easily to their holiday homes. There will be NO Winners just Losers at different degrees.
Covid probably was the clincher that unlocked the deal from being delayed until New Years Eve.
It was interesting driving down the M20 how many foreign trucks were still coming in, mostly Spanish with presumably fruit and veg on.

I bet the Media will be fed up as they will be spending Christmas analysing the small print for next week.

Oh God, the "we've been robbed" posts will start up again and those shedding responsibility can carry on with their irrational "thoughts"

There will be solemn declarations that the current “useless crop” of politicians will have to be rooted out at the next election, to be replaced by MP’s who will implement the will of the people! 😏
There will be profound exchanges of views on here, as to who should replace Boris forthwith, once the deal is passed. My forecast is for the Gove to emerge as the favourite! Rishimoneygrowsontrees, will have the rule run over him, and he will be marked down as “one for the future”!
In any case it’s all going to be like a 2021 Father Ted omnibus edition!

I don't suppose it's the pure Brexit that we voted for, but life's one of compromise. Having witnessed the behaviour of the EU during negotiations, I've no regrets about where my cross went.

I've no doubt we have better times ahead.

Will be one positive of a tough year if we can move on. I look forward to watching as a bystander at EU summits without Brexit.

This is the first time Laura has moved to "very likely"!!

The EU and UK are continuing talks on post-Brexit trade, amid mounting speculation that they are close to agreeing a deal.
BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg said it was looking "very likely" the two sides were "heading towards" an agreement.
But this was "not signed and sealed", with "haggling" going on, she added.
Disputes over fishing rights and business competition rules remain the key hurdles to reaching a deal.
An EU official close to the talks said: "It is crunch time. But talk of a deal announcement is premature."
And a Downing Street source said it was "possible but far from certain" that an agreement could be secured later on Wednesday.

The pure Brexit I voted for was as outlined by this key Leave proponent. It sounded really good. Leave the EU but not threat to our place in the SIngle Market. When I next catch up with him in the pub I must remember to ask him what happened.

I think for most it wont 'feel' any different to a member as we will still be adhering to numerous EU regs in order to access the SM. For farming itself the real changes are not within the deal, they are within the Ag Bill and the future policy our own government intend to implement. Im glad to have 5 yrs of certainty ahead of me.

He was rewarded with a peerage - thats what happened!

Yep to join the others. I wrote to my MP with a copy of David Aroonavitch article a few months ago when he raised the issue of Billy Bunter appointing Clare Fox. I received a carefully crafted weasel letter in reply. As expected, of course. I can still picture Hannan in 2016 doing the TV political shows. Funny old world. Wonder if he ever reviews the things he said and concludes he was either ignorant of the facts or a liar.

Let's not limit ourselves to a single market, there's a whole world out there.
Hannan a brilliant orrator, not many can hold a candle to him in a debate.

Orator or no - did he know when he was orating that he was telling porkies, in which case we were fools and he a clever ignoramous; or was he purposefully telling porkies, in which case he should be berated continually as a liar. In iether case hardly a sound man to be appointed (not elected) to the revising chamber for the Mother Of Parliaments. But that will not bother the Conservative and Brexit Party.

Im not sure what the remoaner posters on here who have posted constant bilge for months and months are going to do if a deal is done, they might have to start posting about farming! On a farming forum too!
Look forward to that, hope Gina Miller is enjoying it all, talk about unintended consequences.

I just can't understand Brexiteer's fascination with Claire Fox.
It doesn't matter what you believe in as long as you are anti the EU.
