After years of fighting with crap siscer jacks in our vans new one turns up today with a bottle jack under the seat. Someone must be listening
Must be 50 years ago we had a car that had a built in jacking system. Little box under the bonnet, select the corner you want & pump the lever.
So much simpler & safer than today`s offerings

Both may old vans had proper bottle jacks with them.

The iveco had a really nice jack come as factory but was useless as there was no spare wheel! spare wheel was optional but the jack was standard :ROFLMAO:

The new MAN TGE (crafter rebadged) has a nice bottle jack and spare wheel as standard(y)

I am sure you know this but with many years experience with Sprinters , I suggest dropping the spare wheel and copper grease all,the winding mechanism ( if it’s still the same) .
My first one never had a puncture for years then, the inevitable , on the side of a busy dual carriage way , jacked up no,problem , tried to wind wheel down and the threaded part was seized into the nut section , it spun round then snapped off completely.
Wheel out no problem but left with the cage hanging with no latch to hold it up , ended up with a ratchet strap to get home.

Not had it off yet to be honest. I doubt it's the same. The vw deal with merc ended in 2017.
Merc are now Renault😂
VW and MAN designed a whole new van on there own👍

It is on my to do list though. Everytime I get under it I come out covered in wax oil! They certainly applied plenty of it from what I can see so far!

We always carry the spare in the back on the wheel arch
2 reasons
It`s always a shite day when we get a puncture.
Without the spare in the piles of crates 3 high tend to move. with the tyre in it takes enough width off to stabilise the piles

Mines FWD.

Rwd and 4x4 loose 100mm height in the back as they lift the floor up rather than lift the whole van.

That and legal carrying capacity is alot less otherwise would have had RWD.

I think he just got a bad one but had some bother with diffs, not heard much of late so maybe all sorted now , if I needed a van I would have one of them in a flash they look really good .

Remember Dads old Wolsley had the built in system..........think it was called Smiths Jackall.
Could lift front rear or all, wish Ford would offer it on their pickups'........just work the hand pump to operate, I guess now it could be electric.
