Not exactly found in a field, but the above reminds me of the time I found 4 home made nail bombs when I was wardening students. 2 Agrics had decided to mix diesel and fertiliser and put nails and screws into the mix for good measure. Put them into an empty workshop overnight and had to get the bomb squad out the following day. Robot took them to an adjoining field where they carried out a controlled explosion. Made 1 hell of a crater.

Any idea what the intention of the students was? Bit weird that

Never really got to the bottom of it. 1 was considered to be far more involved than the other. They were just lucky that it happened in the late 90’s, before 9/11.
If it happened these days it would probably have ended up in terrorism charges.

Today they would be spending a very long time in prison. I am not sure why they didn't then as well as IRA was still active. Lucky students I would say.

In the early 80s when discing down some plough (those were the days!) noticed a bit of cylindrical metal with a fin sticking out in the previous pass. Decided that discretion was the better part of valour, left well alone and went and phoned the police. RAF bomb squad eventually appeared, confirmed it was a German incendiary device and blew it up in situ with quite a bang. Would not have done the tractor (JD 3040 if I remember correctly) any good. Surprising how It had not appeared considering how many times that field must have been ploughed and cultivated in the past.

Slight concern was the fact they were dropped in sticks of 8 and still have not found the rest!

I have found some of Uncle's reports on the munitions they found lying around in Germany after the war. Just one RAF Group's BD squads had to deal with the following: Total at the end of the month in early 1946 was over 77,000 tons. This was just Luftwaffe stuff that came under RAF control. The Army and Navy had their own departments,

My son was spreading AD digestive at a local farm and found a DJI Mavic drone. He brought it home downloaded the video to the laptop and worked out where it had taken off from and went there with it the next day. Owner was over the moon as it was brand new and he'd searched high and low. Gave him £80 as a reward for bringing it back and being honest.

Found a the same at the bottom if a cliff face when I was out checking the sheep. Got the pics it was a Japanese couple on their holibobs. Posted on a few fb groups here and abroad. No luck unfortunately.

The best thing I did find was two full blister packets of 225mg Pregablin on separate occasions. First time I found 5hem I text my mate who's a pharmacist what they are, her reply "you've got the good stuff I've only ever seen them up to 100mg, ps don't take them" ???. Apparently its what all the kids are taking these days to get high and are apparently worth 50 quid a tablet.

BASIS
I was once doing some contract work on a farm near thetford and as I drove up the track towards the road I saw a merc sprinter van pulled into the gate way, the side door was open and I could see what I thought was a lady with long blond hair!!!! As I got closer I suddenly realised what I was looking at was a 6ft middle aged bloke in a blonde wig, crop top, short leather skirt, fishnets and as I got level with him he was then doing the straps up on his 6inch red stilettos!!!!! He didnt seem bothered so I just drove past and left him to it.

Other things we've found are parachutes from army flares that drift over, some army thunder flashes, two fired dummy mortar rounds, a ww2 spigot mortar, a cash tin with some slides in of a chap who was obviously enjoying being on a nudist beach, an ex ww2 land mine which although it didnt have a detonator was live. Apparently during the war they were doing landmine training on part of ours and run out of dummy mines so decided to lay live anti tank mines but without the detonators!!!!!

I've also found a neolithic mace head(stone axe) and a chap who done some detecting on ours found a bronze age axe head, a Roman cloak broach and several Roman coins. I've also come across an unsuspecting courting couple in their car in a gateway (there was tits and arse going all directions when I blew the tractor horn) and a lady and here Male friend taking some rather interesting photos in the edge of a wheat field.
