Was delighted to see a male Siskin on my bird feeder yesterday and today. Came home from shopping and there was also a mummy and a baby Siskin today, sat in the car to watch them for a minute with daughter. Had just said to her " don't open your door yet, I don't want to disturb them". Hubby walked round the corner with his usual impeccable timing . They did not budge, he was about two feet away from them, they watched him, but did not fly off. For tiny wee birds, they are fearless. Went out and hand washed the car after and they sat tweetering away not remotely bothered! :)

Local small town shops....... washing machine went pop this morning.

So I rock up to our local electronics place in my finest ripped farmer regalia, to which I get neither a look to suggest that A. I'm a tramp or B. I'm abit "special".

Instead I'm pointed in the direction of a farmer friendly reasonably priced washing machine, before I even ask if I can take it away right away, the assistant has already said, park your truck up outside and we'll chuck it right in.

Park the Landy outside....literally right outside the main door, no hissy fit from the shop about parking on the yellow line.

&no collective mental breakdown over the HSE implications of lifting a washing machine in to the back of the Landy.

That's why the independent shop is still here..... and Currys is long gone
