Just squeeze the seeds out of the ripe berry onto the tree. They seem to like apple trees, found another this morning. :)

He looks in good nick for a 33 year old !

Thank you. I've had him 17 years, he's been retired for about 12 years mainly because I had a youngster coming through. He had a rough year last year - losing his two long term companions (including, very sadly the youngster) but picked up with a new friend and a mild winter helped.

I was fencing of a strip for his companion - who's a little heavy - this evening and the two of them were belting round. I'm always amazed by the turn of speed he has when he goes for it. He was an "Arab racer" in a previous incarnation. I expect he'll be really stiff tomorrow.

Thanks to all the people who have liked the above post. I know the best place for a horse is in the neighbour's field or even in a sandwich but there is always something special about the golden oldies of any species who just keep going with minimum special attention IMO.

PS the dish in his head, just below his eye line, is where he has all his sinuses caved in 10 years ago!

Whats the scar on the top of his back leg off ?

Just after I agreed to take him his previous owner was taking him between two of those square metal posts that stop motor bikes going on footpaths when he spooked on landed on top of one. Unfortunately it was the one the plastic protective top had been nicked off. The vet did a botch Imo and it got infected and filled with fluid and puss which needed remedial treatment after he arrived. I wasn't going to turn him down as he basically came on a suck I and see basis because no one really wanted to take him on.
