The thing that strikes me about this pic, and which hadn't registered before, is that the cattle shown seem to have much shorter horns than the ones I see nowadays; presumably this is because the modern ones are more for show.
I was told by a Highland breeder that you could tell how good or poor the farm was by the size of the horns. Good farm big horn and vice versa.
