Has to be limousin, anything else would just be a waste of your quality blue cows.
the trouble is its not just to use on our blue cows and after having a couple lim calves this year tear round half the farm through hedges and end up in the river while the blue calves went on out to the field with their mums I said I wouldn't have another one on the farm, if I stick to that remains to be seen

cant see temperament being a problem if you handle your cows quietly, blues and lim compliment each other perfectly, blue is quite doclie so is a great match for the lim in my experience. 2nd choice would be blonde for the blue...but its a distant 2nd!

Weaned 20 blues ( which were about half from your bull(y))and 2 lim (which came from fertility plus) , 1 lim is currently the other end of the farm trying to escape and these are handled daily , I for one will be sticking with the blues and whitefaces :censored:

I would like to recommend using a Gelbvieh. Great mothering ability, good size cow, easy fleshing on little input, retaining shape as well and nice nature to them. Been A.I.ing a couple over last few years to get a few replacements. Sell well through the ring even when people haven't heard of them. I topped a big autumn sale once with a pair of gelbvieh stots. Top price and top ppk. Not easy to do up here in Orkney where there is good strong animals going through the ring. I do like a simmy & a blonde out of a blue too.

The calf on the left is a gelbvieh heifer. I sold her to someone for breeding. Other calves are parthenais out of sim x blue and a black lim out of a ¾blue. Both heifers.

100% agree as if you enjoy quality cattle and have an eye for top end cattle you will have pretty much the best available for you and for your buyer's.
As for temperament with limo's it's down to the breeder's as some breed regardless of temperament and others are more selective. When buying a bull questions need to be asked.
