Couple of points, they kind of contradict each other but hopefully are valid, neither are washing machine related tho 😕

1) Have you asked for a credit check on the supplier? Tell them that you’re going to be relying on them to supply a piece of equipment that’s important to the operation of your business and you need to ensure that they will be able to meet their obligations. Turn it round on them and see how they like it.

Side Note: These requests are becoming increasingly common, the company I work for does this as standard now, I could hardly believe it when they started, we get the occasional small business / one man band that tells our purchasing dept to pi55 off as we’re more trouble than we’re worth but overall most companies seem to accept it.

2) There are ways to deal with requests for bank statements etc without just printing off your account details. When we get such requests the company has a standard letter that tells them how to contact the group’s bankers in Germany, that always seems to do the trick. Why don’t you speak to your bank manager and ask if he can help you sort it out?

My Zanussi. Is 95°C too hot for you to handle?

Ahhh, is that one of those Zanussi/Hotpoint domestic washers that does, 30 degrees, 40 degrees, 60 degrees, and then burns your house down by degrees?

Miele will sell you a commercial washing machine and keep it supplied with chemical. They are not cheap. Go on their website, explain what you need it for and they will help you.

Zanussi is part of the Electrolux group, and Hotpoint is part of the Indesit group, so I don't imagine that it is.

I REALLY wish I hadn’t mentioned washing machines ....

There is no way on Gods good earth am I going to allow third parties to have three months of statements. They are highly confidential and I do not understand why this was something asked for

They are confidential but ultimately they don't tell anyone anything about you, your level of wealth of even the health of your business. It's a bit like company accounts in some ways.

I've been asked to supply bank statements in the past for a couple of things but I can't exactly remember the circumstances, may have been proof of address and something else, I forget.

I’ve got a good Hotpoint for sale Balders.
One owner from new, low mileage, never been off road and always been kept indoors.
I was asking £150 for it, but seeing as its you I will take £145 plus six months bank statements.

It's intended to help prove that you can service the payments i.e. that there's income that exceeds your outgoings, they can also use it to verify that anything you've told them about your finances is true. I have a pretty decent credit history & rating, but that has been built up by servicing relatively small levels of credit & doesn't mean that I can service the payments required for a £500k mortgage. Were I to apply for such a mortgage, I am pretty sure that the lender would be asking for bank statements.

But 3 months bank statements for most arable farms between June and November wouldn't give most firms much confidence in you. Lots of costs, but little income.

More to the point, don’t buy what you can’t afford can get you a poor credit rating.
If I ever need credit I suspect it will be a case of computer says NO
Encouraging people to borrow, just to get a good credit rating, so that they can borrow again has to be the most insidious aspect of capitalism.
How gullible can people get ?

Is the same for dairy farms but every month :(

It must be pointed out that the credit firm who were going to cover the lease period were not agricultural lenders per se.

It just struck me that this was something we had never been asked for before & I was wondering if it something that is going to become common because I would be very uncomfortable with our bank statements pinging about on the internet or in hard copy in the hands of any old scrote

Looked in to leasing an industrial washing machine for udder clothes as we wanted the responsibility to keep the machine working to rest on the shoulders of the supplying company.

Son was dealing with it so not directly involved but supplying company use a finance firm to run the lease which was to be for five years. So finance co ring up and say is it ok to run credit check on business? Yes it is.
Oh, and by the way, we need to see your last three bank statements

WTF, never ever been asked for bank statements even when buying machines/cows in to the tens of thousands never minding a poxy washing machine with a value of £6k

Anyone else been asked for bank statements?
You should of just paid for it with a bounce back loan, simples .

I think it’s because it’s a lease, not a purchase, they want to have the confidence that you can keep up the payments each month, and not sell it on!
