This is the future

Having spent the last few days ( & with still quite a few days ahead of me ) planting my winter crops of bread wheat, durum & still to come, chickpeas - it has once again reinforced how much I HATE sitting in tractors doing repetitive work & how much time it wastes that could be otherwise utilised.
I will NEVER buy a new tractor again ( although an old school pre electronics Steiger / Versatile / Magnum or maybe 8400 JD is on the cards short term ), but I CAN see myself buying these in the future

I've a mate who's contracting and wants out, who is VERY driven to run a team of drones. Really quite staggering even now, what they're capable of.

However, this is my future for now

I am sooooo over spending time sitting in a cab.
Yes, your system IS probably ideal . . .
But, it doesn’t produce grains, legumes, fibre or oilseeds, of which there still is a large market for . . .?
Yes, I know, commodity production - but there IS money to be made from that IF you are smart . . .

brilliant, and they are the future, the question is, how far into the future ? Because, at this present time, the end price of our products, is not enough to justify the investment, in these robots, however brilliant they are !

this is the tech I want -not gene editing or new actives thanks !

truly game changing - thanks for posting
You say that, but how about a scientist in 10 years time came up with a wheat/ PRG/ clover hybrid, which produced a 10 tonne milling wheat crop, fixing its own N and did not need re establishing every year.
Russian scientists claimed they had some such in the 1960’s ;)

it was an Australian farming family - the Mailers, from northern NSW / southern Qld - who developed Beeline, the first commercial agricultural autosteer system, long before John Deere or Trimble did it . . .

Was using beeline autosteer in nsw Australia in 1999. Used to setup base station at side of field to work off. Always remember the farmer revving up tractor when it was loading satellites to make it load quicker! :ROFLMAO:

I think Clive said in another thread he wanted to own the tech, that other farmers would pay him for the right to use. Where as he's missed the GMO/Editing train as its all been locked up by the likes of Bayer

Good point though, don't need a robot sprayer if there's nothing to spray.

In the UK the local traveling community are looking forward to all this tech driving up and down the field by itself:rolleyes:

when contracting on other farms, I still set up my base station ( Novariant AutoFarm - old school now ) in a fixed point on the side of the field

not only robot sprayers . . .
Robot planters
Robot mowers
Ultimately, robot harvesters

how much is a new 150 - 200 hp tractor ?
Or a new pick up ?
People seem to have no trouble buying them . . .
What sort of money are they at the mo?

I can understand why they would be invented/developed in Australia as you have vast areas and like you I think sitting on a tractor is such a waste of time.
