Had two AZ doses, had covid couple wks ago, personally I don’t think I need the booster.

Feel better now than before having the virus.

One thing I noted about covid was it didn’t seem to go deep into my lungs, I guess the vaccine helped with that?
It was a bit early but could still have been the omicron strain, which doesn't go as deep into the lungs as earlier variants. Tends to stay in the bronchi rather than going into bronchioles and alveoli.

But the two jabs have worn off by now, thought that's why booster required?
It's the antibodies that have worn off not the mechanisms behind an immune response.

But very simply, when you are vaccinated the body reacts and produces antibodies, in this case they are looking to be active for around 5-6 months. But the body also produces memory t- cells and b-cells which basically store the blueprint of the virus and patrol the body through the blood stream, if they come across the virus again they activate an immune response to produce antibodies and the B-cells accelerate this effect to give a stronger response. Memory t-cells could last your entire lifetime, b-cells a lot less so.

So, in theory if you are boosted you may not even notice you had the virus or at worst give you very mild effects. If you are vaccinated but unboosted you are more likely to be unwell due to the addition time delay in the body producing sufficient antibodies to overwhelm the virus.

Now if you’ve got a cold you need to be frightened into believing you’re going to die.No it’s not good news for some people that Omicron isn’t going to lay waste to the nation.

AZ did agree to supply the vaccine at cost price it was only on Nov 12th that a new contract with a profit element was agreed.

As to the Covid industry that has sprung up, entirely agree. A lad was sacked from our village shop for thieving, immediately employed packing covid test kits, he is to put it bluntly thick and virtually unemployable. Then we have the people who were employed to wander round town centres as covid marshalls, ours used to stand in a huddle having a chat, then walk up to market stalls push past the queue ignoring distancing and instruct the stallholders on obeying the rules.

And about time AZ turned a wee profit. The Yankee Doodle Dandies saw gold from the off. No messing there. They are used to medical system in the Good Old US of A where death is an unfortunate side effect of not making the American dream, thus being poor and not able to afford Health Insurance to feed Big Pharma. And if the Tories have there way it is coming here soon.

So you need the booster.
And will keep needing boosters forever
There's no sense on having just one

Bizarre is it not. SAGE will have to dream up some more devastating symptoms. Toes turning Black of Orange Phlegm be good. More reports of my daughters mates. They have all got it r had it. Sniffles and a bit of sore throat - like the morning after the night before! A few have been to get tested - have a positive PCR but were actively working or socialising beforehand. The wiser ones are not going for PCR now as they do not want to be locked down isolating over the next week or s0.

In the USA death is the worst possible outcome for their healthcare system as even they cannot work out how to extract money from a corpse. As to that old myth of the Tories being hell bent on getting rid of the NHS, I've been hearing it stated as fact since Maggie arrived in Downing Street 42 years ago, its obviously a very slow work in progress.

We’ve all had the same here. No one is getting a Covid test as the repercussions aren’t good .People don’t want to be isolated over Christmas so they are just blowing their noses and getting on with things. However like you say too many new things have grown up around this such as being able to work in your jammies or getting time off without consequences because you’re isolating etc that it may never end. Anyway happy Christmas and let’s hope for a more sensible future for our kids.

Sh!t a brick. Not only are some people not getting vaccinated there are others getting a cold and carrying on as normal. Where will this insanity end?
