Thistlex in a weed wiper

Bloody good idea, I’ve got a patch of bad thistles where there’s quite a bit of grass, was worried how much grass I’d waste topping them. Now all I need do is track down a weed wiper and watch this thread for suggestions.(y)

It would obviously be against the law to use Thistlex in a weed wiper, however, I was advised when I had a wiper, that a 1:20 dilution rate would be very effective, ideally wiped two ways to get better coverage.

I never tried it though, so can’t say if it was right.
With a wetting agent.
Works well "apparently"!

Fekkin typicall, I’ve found a weed wiper I can borrow and now won’t be able to use it..............unless there is something else I can put in?

Glyphosate is the only product licensed to use in a weedwiper iirc.
I wonder why, I presume just a licensing issue as no trials have been done.
You’d think it would be a good thing as less chemical would be used, targeted where it’s needed. Common sense really, but I guess that has no place in rules and regulations.

Yes, just a licensing issue I would think. Such a small market that it wouldn't be worth the cost of licensing Thistlex I suppose.

Thistlex at the same rate as you would apply in a sprayer works a treat.................
Apparently
You won't get them all in one hit so be prepared to have two goes at them either spring/autumn or spring/spring. (I actually don't think you can spray the same field twice in a year going by the label so probably not the best advice.)
Just to clarify I neither own a weed wiper or need to use thistlex in case someone questions my advice.

Weed wiping thistles works well, might be a week or too late now. Not as good as overall spraying , but a good alternative to topping.
This is all from memory of course , before the regs. changed!
