Does any one else think it would be a good idea for a thread where TFF members can report scams, persistent callers phone numbers that need blocking etc .
The thread would need to be a sticky(one with the red pin by it) excuse my ignorance!!

Hello,
Checked my answering machine when i came in for tea and there was a message from " a police officer
from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs" informing me that i was going to be prosecuted. Quickly figured it
to be a scam, this was confirmed when i rang back the number, which started 0121, and a voice from BT informed
me that the number was not recognized, and to try again. I carefully checked the number, tried again, and the same
voice from BT gave the same message again.
So, there is a fast method to check for a scam - when you try to phone
back, having checked the number, using 1437, a message from BT states that the number is not recognized.

I'm confused. Why did you call back if you thought it was a scam? And why would the scammers wan't you to phone back on a number that wasn't recognised? Sorry if I'm having a bit of a numpty moment.

Don’t think the Forum would have enough capacity to report all the scams nowadays
Let’s start with Brexit
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

That is so funny; but it's ironic too, because the EU is the biggest scam of the last fifty years. (y)

Do you think it would be a good idea to have “sticky” thread on Crime Line ,where we could report scams etc?
Please, please some serious answers to such a serious problem.
Flippant replies as posted elsewhere on TFF ,where I have started the same thread are pathetic, childish and show ignorance of such a serious subject.

Yes! - i twigged it was a scam, and the intention was to phone them back in order to take the pee!!.

Dont worry - they will be phoning you back and then you can take the pee! The tax ones are great as you can pretend you have been fiddling your taxes for years and years and you dont care! When they tell you the amount you owe, write it down and then later double it and tell them you are not paying the doubled amount. They never challenge the change in the amount! ;)
Another one I have done is to pretend I am only 16 - they got all confused when I kept asking daft questions - "what is tax" etc! :)

Perhaps to list known farm scams, yes. As for scam phone callers it's easier to just Google their number most times. There are some good web sites listing known scammers but they wouldn't include farm specific scams (like the spate of fake machinery buyers) as they are too niche.

Merged your 2 OPs into one thread in correct section.

There are several threads already running, in relevant sections for scams.
Sadly we can not force people to use the search facility before posting, and even if there was a sticky thread for such posts, it would be entirely dependant on all mods noticing new threads popping up and merging to just the one 'sticky'
