Couldn't believe it. Found a very active tick on one of the dog's fur yesterday. Doesn't bode well, especially with this weird warm front coming. Thought the freezing temperatures would have put them to sleep for the winter.

We get wood ticks early summer here. They’ll suck blood and swell up to pea size then drop off. Helped friend sort sheep a couple of years ago in the depths of winter. Minus 20-30. Could still find ticks wedged in the wool enjoying live sucking blood. Theses were outdoor sheep.

Highland by name, but perhaps only just by nature - I’d wager that @ladycrofter lives a fair bit further from you than Kirkcaldy…
Heelanders have a very inflated opinion of themselves. They regard anyone born south of Callander in West Perthshire as inferior.
And ticks spend the winter in rough foliage, but they will emerge early in mild weather.

Pitlochry is my limit
Not so much an inflated opinion, as having looked at the offerer’s website I noted minimum numbers depending on distance. It’s a long way to Skye/ Ullapool etc from Daventry.

I have no doubt, and have done similar and longer, but I wouldn’t chose to go that far with a mobile dipper, and certainly not for one job.
