I'm very, very pleased to see this subject being aired and people either already doing something sensible about it or at least giving serious thought about it.

If anyone wants some more information you might find the new AEA 'Look Behind You' guide of help. It's free and available from the following website ..... in hardcopy or electronically:-

https://aea.uk.com/look-behind-you/

Apparently produced by a so-called tractor-trailer braking expert ;)

Great thanks.

Couldn't agree more. Also, the working environment of towed agricultural vehicles is a lot less forgiving than that of On-Road vehicle. Ingress of dust & dirt can (perhaps not surprisingly) can act as an abrasive. That can be handy in reducing brake shoe 'glazing', but I still think it's a good idea to take the drums off once a year & clean the sh*t out. Don't forget brake drums are wearing items as well as the brake shoe linings!

I once took the drums off a Large Square Baler which had only done one season. The drums were full to the level of the axle shaft with chaff & dust. Just as well the brakes never got very hot ..... it would only have happened the once
Oilseed rape is another effective brake shoe 'lubricant' ....... Does wonders for a vehicle's braking efficiency (NOT)

Regards to the MeritAgCheck App, has anybody tried the servicing by hours and mileage area? has anybody tried uploading and linking their other service records to the app?
