I was also told that even the air gap between the plasterboard and wall is of some insulation value aswell
Have to render first, so whenever I've done it previously, I'm told it's cheaper and a better job to plasterboard.Skim the walls
That's what @spikeislander was talking about earlier in the thread, the door handles turn up instead of down, and you can hear them clamp up. Iirc that's all heated with electric heaters and uses very little. In the eighties i lived in a timber frame Scandinavian home for 3 years, it had 18" insulating under floor walls and ceiling, it had tripe glazing and fancy doors with levers that sealed when closed, great house that took little to no heating !! this country is slo far behind with new buildings its unreal.
Cant remember which way they work but if building new id want them ! along with triple glazing and a heap of insulation will reduce your heating to nxt to nothing, thats a big saving over the life of a house !!That's what @spikeislander was talking about earlier in the thread, the door handles turn up instead of down, and you can hear them clamp up. Too slow and takes ages to dry out. I think you'd struggle to find the skills now as well.Skim the walls
I wouldn't mind, but my wife wants it more traditional.Cant remember which way they work but if building new id want them ! along with triple glazing and a heap of insulation will reduce your heating to nxt to nothing, thats a big saving over the life of a house !!
When I get to the stage of building it will be a 5 year project, build in my spare time and as cash allows , so no issues with time , skills could well be another matter,Too slow and takes ages to dry out. I think you'd struggle to find the skills now as well.
Or tape and joint,So this plaster board on walls still needs to be skimmed?
When I'm building (this summer) it will be as quick as possible as I will have two mortgages to pay! When I get to the stage of building it will be a 5 year project, build in my spare time and as cash allows , so no issues with time , skills could well be another matter,

You also get less sound transmission from room to room with dot and dab plasterboard, make sure you get the moisture resistant in kitchen, bathrooms ectHave to render first, so whenever I've done it previously, I'm told it's cheaper and a better job to plasterboard.
