Time to abandon haylage/silage??

They take our electric fence stakes up to use as 'darts' to throw at them:facepalm:

There's a playing field two fields away - it's part of the problem 'cos it attracts the little sods:facepalm:

Yep, it has no effect on them - I expect they're quite familiar with by-passing electric meters at home and ransacking sub stations for the copper wire:eek:

Have you fired a few warning shots over their heads?

Find the ring leader and slip him a fiver for looking after the bales. I could never do this but I know an old wag in the next village who has had some success with this system.
Unfortunately one of the persistent offenders is beyond saving. He's a foster kid who has got completely out of control. The last time we 'apprehended' him, and actually were able to get a policeman to come, it turned out to be the third incident he'd been involved in in the area that day:banghead:
Sad reflection on the system really. It's only a matter of time before he's in borstal/Lincoln Gaol.

Can you not get him involved with something on the farm?

I assume you live elsewhere? Would it be possible to take the bales away at harvest and stack at the farmyard?
They are 50 yards from the house, supposedly so we can keep an eye on them - but you can't be there all the time or you never get anything done. There's straw and hay there too.
Don't like having too much in the yard as it wouldn't be the first time we've had a fire:inpain::banghead:

I once briefly worked on a farm next to a housing estate, all straw had to be baled same day it was cut, and then carted in that night, I remember Farmer said if he leaves it in the swath they set fire to it, if left in the bale they move the small bales to build huts and if big bales they cut the strings, even the gates had to be locked otherwise they would let the cows out

If you are getting this hassle 50 yards from your house then the answer is very simple, sell up and move

Unfortunately it's not that simple.
