Don't leave it too late to have your Marconi Moisture meter checked over and re-calibrated before the rush starts.

We can handle any model 933plain and A, B or C models through to 933D.
we can privde spares and some charts or documentation if yours is missing.

If you have a question we are happy to help.
Sorry we don;t handle Sinar or Protimeter, only the classic Marconi - the most rugged and reliable instrument on the farm.

Had mine done at the dealers. An old boy turned up with something that looked like it should have been on the antiques road show. Plugged it in to the mains, ten minutes for the valves to warm up but the reading was spot on. (y)

No idea what this equipment might be - the testing/recalibration process is relatively straightforward.
Are you able to say who it was who did it? Was it a while ago or recent...

Always happy to help.

As far as I am aware our 1958 model that my grandfather bought has never been serviced or recalibrated and yet still works faultlessly and bang on re moisture. I used to buy pre dried samples to check for ACCS nonsense.
I did change the battery set up to enable modern batteries to be used.
Without doubt one of the most reliable long lasting things on this farm am sure it'll see me out.

Good to hear, you have a classic working instrument.
Well done with the battery conversion, just ensure you check the batteries regularly for leakage, also put them in a plastic bag helps.

Regarding accuracy, using known samples is perfectly good but there is the actual meter accuracy to take into account as well. Do you have any means of checking the actual meter calibration?

If anything changes and you need help in the future, we will be happy to help.

We still have a wind up megger machine with a set of long needles that you can stick in to a hessian sack. Don’t tend to use it much now. Also in the back bedroom we have a meter that relies on a horse hair or something to move an indicator. Fascinating stuff. Saw another moisture meter at Hemswell antique centre that used a chemical to dehydrate the sample with before and after weights to determine moisture. I reckon you get a good idea by the steepness of the heap in the trailer or the way the moisture meter grinds it. Thumb nail on a grain also a good indicator.

Wow, they sound some real antique items. I have seen some of these - certainly the one that uses the chemicals...

If you do have a Marconi meter then we are here to help...
Good luck with your moisture testing and hopefully any validation requirements you may have in the future.

Has Dr Egleton died? He helped me convert mine to mains. Mr Marconi and a complete eccentric.

Don’t worry, if you need any help with a Marconi moisture meter then we can support whatever needs doing.

We can repair or calibrate and fully service all of the Marconi meters (TF 453, TF819, TF842) as well as the more common TF933 family of instruments.

We have spares and can provide refurbished instruments to original manufacturers specification.
There are some scales and charts plus copies of original manuals/instruction cards as well.

In almost every case (apart from serious case damage/battery corrosion) the meter can be restored to full working order.

These fine instruments are one of the most rugged, reliable and repeatable machines on the farm.
Not much else lasts as long and is still up to the job.
Modern meters might be a bit smaller but are certainly more costly and won’t last like these.
If you have one, keep it..

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Nigel
