Ed’s a top lad, real credit to his parents. He will do well (y)

Yes, hes a nice guy and he will be OK I think, genuiniely interested in what we did even though he knew Ive only bought a few wearing parts and hoes in the last few years.

I rang his Dad about 6 months later to price up something and he even knew dad had passed away nearly a year since as soon as I said my name, Dad cant have been in the depot for 10 years.

Never heard of them although that's hardly surprising they are a long way from me !!!! just out of curiosity I checked there web site and what a great looking premises they have super smart , but above all what a breath of fresh air that web site is , No corporate bulls**t in site just simple words very well written . And how it stands out from the normal churned out tosh that fill most peoples web sites these days

From there web site and worth a read

"Thank you also to all the customers, old and new that continue to support us. We trust you will find us honourable and true in all we do. My grandfather told me when I started work in 1986 that "I would be judged, not on how much I sold, but on how I solve the problems!" If you have any concerns, problems or complaints, I will do as I was told, and treat them as a priority. I am usually to be found behind my desk, and I will be delighted to speak to you"

I wish them well https://www.halse.co.uk/meet-the-team.htm

Philip Halse treated me with more courtesy as a twelve year old lad whilst I stood and watched him and my dad doing a deal on a muck spreader than some arrogant twunts that call themselves salesmen do today!

He recently shared that same courtesy to my son whilst I did a deal with him. No doubt my son will also remember his encounter as Philip was kind enough to dig out an old Halse catalogue when I mentioned that my son loved looking through them!

That wallpaper depicting all the old catalogues is brilliant. Fantastic family firm to deal with, waiting for a folding set of Dalbo grass rollers due at the end of January.

I am completing a little college course designed for mature students before I can go to Uni again (hoping to study medicine).

Of course, whether they will take me or not is another matter.

Impressive stuff, sure they will.
From what I understand, the entry level course can be more difficult to study for, than what you actually want to study. Apparently the course material can be all over the place.

Best of luck with it ...................

Love it they put the phone number and say 8 lines, is that still relevant today with all this broadband and digital stuff, especially in their fantastic new showrooms / yard.

True enough, I was laughed by a dealer as a 18 year old student , although I am by modern standards a small fry owner operator, I have bought 4 new tractors over the last 15 odd years and not one from said dealer. Memories last!
Same happened to me! Dealership is long bust but I will never deal with that salesman. Never. Another rep called a couple of days later, couldn't have been more polite. I have spent a fair bit of money with him and his firm..........

Sounds very familiar from my youth.remember the Norfolk show about 30 years ago and could not get the time of day from a rep who was pee'd up at the time.any salesmen reading this need to remember the kids grow up and make decisions.there is the odd one about who I’d never buy anything from.

True enough, couldn’t get the serious attention of Most local dealers when I was 20, I wanted to buy a tractor, as I recal only one salesman took me seriously, unfortunately he didn’t have anything that would suit my needs back then and I subsequently bought a Massey from a well known second hand dealer who made the whole thing very pleasant for me. My self and the salesman who took me seriously have a great relationship, having since sold me 1x 933, 2x 936 and a second hand forager, as well as plenty of other things....... Pays to talk to customers, rather than dismissing them because of their age.

If only there were a good form of land agents with that ethos!
