Tipping trailer lowering

Does anyone know how to lower a tipping trailer, it lifts using the tipping pipe connection but wont lower. The only thing I can think of is loosening the pipe fittings to let out some fluid out

After loosening the fittings the ram just bounces and lowers under pressure from me jumping on it.
Must be something wrong with the ram or a sticky one way valve if some like that exists

We used to have a trailer with a four stage single ram ,,tipping was ok ,each section from the bottom went up ok but droping it ,the bottom section went down first then the third section would drop and then it went with a big jolt as the bottom section shot back out over the second ,,we never did discover why it did it ,,more so empty than loaded

Firstly, are you using the right selectamatic position
to tip trailer , the selactamatic switch ( the one to the left behind the seat ) should be in the TCU tip position
this is done by pulling the main hydraulic lever to the rear and turning the switch. Do NOT force this switch
next to tip the trailer pull the main hydraulic lever hard to the rear.
to lower the trailer push the lever slightly forward, no more than 25% of the travel, and certainly don't push to the bottom.
at the same time lift the quick drop button
if this does not work
change the hydraulic Quick fit fittings on both tractor and trailer. Changing thesse to a dowty fitting ( if still available ) can make a sea change.

however none of this may work , if there is little weight on the trailer.

When the trailer is fully tipped up AND SUPPORTED spray all the sections of the ram with spray oil wd40 or something like it.work the trailer up and down then and see what happens.maybe put a ton or two in the trailer to make it easier come down a few times...

We had a similar problem on a DB780 years ago, trailer would not go down and the lift arms were the same, turned out it was a small valve on top of the back axel. This was under a the plate the dump valve is fitted to. Take off the plate and there is a large slot head screw. remove this and the valve under it. I think there is a ball bearing there so be careful and not loose it.
This problem is caused by dirt getting into the oil which DBs do not like.
This procedure has been covered on other threads here recently I think.

Absolutely correct, I think there is a spring there too. Do NOT lose that ball, it is matched to the valve. The hole in the valve is very fine!

If The trailer isn't dropping with the coupling off on the pipe, it's not the tractor.
Support the body so it can't come down, you'll have to crack the pipe off the ram.
Although I'd say it's the ram

Only way is to push it down with a fore loader or digger, stay clear, when it goes it'll potentially go fast.
