new discs, lift coulter to top slot maybe can help, never tried this but recall @Simon Chiles suggesting it

or best tip - don't grow second cereals ! :)
Really disappointed with the amount of hair pinning where we drilled OSR after a good wheat crop. Brand new drill so no problem with discs, may have to move coulter when I put some oil radish in as soon as its dry.

Yes, I think so. Our 2008 Claydon has pretty well depreciated now but is till in good condition so I can't really see any point selling it.
We also have an oldish Claydon but disturbance is huge and it likes to pull up stones. Ideally Id rather not use a tine at all but that might be asking too much.....

About the rutting that is definitely where strip till drills have a place. Fields here drilled with the Claydon were always the most level and rut-free after harvest.

but do you still think there is a need clive after your mzuri trial trial results?

honestly I don't know ! I think it depends upon a lot of factors, sometimes no need and others it could be the difference between a crop or not, qty of straw, weather after drilling etc lots of variables

My 750 vs Mzuri trail was straw removed (which i don't want to do) had the straw been chopped that may have pushed the 750 crop over the edge in a wet, anaerobic November maybe

the tine has no use other than the trash clearing, its cultivation effect is pointless (negative in fact) but that trash clearing is advantageous in some scenarios. you could argue that adding trash wheels to a 750a or buying a cross slot would solve those occasions but both those options could end up costing you more than a cheap old tine drill would do

use it with front tine just trash clearing rather than at any depth maybe ?

Yes it's something weight try. A shares disturb a lot too. Steve Townsend wants us to put rape. spoons on it for driling wheat too but rows would be very wide?? We weren't very concerned about low disturbance with this years rape as fields needed a little levelling coming from ploughing.

wide OSR rows wouldn't bother me at all - some of the best OSR I have grown was a claydon V drill with every other tine removed 24" space ? with osr spoons not wide bands

Not worried about wide rows In rape but Steve was suggesting drilling 2nd wheat/wheat after oats with the spoons....13" rows???

What about driling cover crops into chopped wheat straw with 750a? How are you finding this? Carrier etc would be an option for this but id rather not disturb top of two inches if possible
