Tissue tests

Had some tissue tests done on spring barley and feel something has gone wrong somewhere first one dated 17 of may is good nitrogen high manganese low but had just had mag sulphate between the sample being taken and the results coming back. The crop didn't look right and had more foliar feed and fert and just got the second test results back today from about 14 days ago and they are dire and more in line with how the majority of the crop looks. Wrong sample put in to the lab first time or serious underestimate on what the crop needs?

An acute deficiency of multiple elements within a short time frame would suggest to me there is a rooting based issue in the crop. I can't say I was ever that convinced with the tissue testing of crops, as outlined above, I think they can vary far too much for quite innocent reasons.

How does crop look now? If it was waterlogged or stressed when you gave it the mix above I’d say it’s probably given it a good headache! At which point the crop will be deficient in ALOT of things if it’s shut down..

Tissue tests are just a snapshot in time. Ideally, you want a sample from a good healthy crop as a benchmark at the same time.

Poor rooting/H2O deficiency will soon throw up a lot of issues. What shows as deficient might just be unavailable temporarily due to other factors, plus rapid biomass growth will exhaust the readily available nutrients.

Don't think rooting is a issue roots are at least 6 inch deep and well spread. Hasn't been waterlogged since it was sown but has had plenty of rain. I'm thinking a mix of rapid growth and possibly as some have said the herbicide mix being abit hot
