Tithebarn thermovite plus

Had a salesman past here a few weeks ago, and for some reason my dad bought enough thermovite plus to do all of our lambs and calves this spring.
Not sure why as I can't say we have any problem that it might address, he is just an absolute sucker for a salesman!

With good reason, we normally give every calf born here an injection of vitesel at birth, my question is will the thermovite provide the equivalent vitamin value of the vitesel? So that I could avoid having to give both.
It claims to contain 11,000 lu of vitamin E (acetate) per kg, and 50mg of selenium per kg.
Each calf should get 10-12ml.
Somebody please work that out for me! Thanks.

Is that the colostrum paste thing? Used to use it if a lamb or calf was a bit dopey or a bit cold and just needed a boost to give them energy to go and suck more than anything. One or two tubes would do for a whole lambing and calving usually. Salesman who used to call here has died so I don't buy it anymore and don't really miss it to be honest.
But it was useful on occasion. Especially on a cow that was wild and I thought the calf needed about of a boost to get it to suck. I could run in squirt some in its mouth and run out before the cow got to me :rolleyes::D
Definitely wouldn't give it to everything.

I don't give to everything just what looks dopey as said, Had a calf last year that looked like it wouldn't see the night out. Long story short I gave it a good dose of that and waited, fell asleep but was woken to the sound of jumping and calling form the calf with a full belly. Very impressive stuff, also used it on a friend of mines blue calf, had no go at 5 days old, would curl up in a ball and just lay on it's own. Shot of that and some pen strep - on it's feet in moments and going like the clappers

I always keep a few tubes about me at calving time, have done for about 4 years.

This morning came in to find a cow had calved in the gutter with just the calf's head sticking out the mud, the weather last night was hellish storm force winds with sleet and hail with lots of rain mixed in!!
Calf was in a bad way and not sucked and showing no signs it wanted to live, I got calf to clean ground out of the wind and gave it a treble dose of thermovite and with in about 40mins the little bugger was up sucked and jumping around mum with tail in the air.

It only costs about £2.50 a dose, and I find if you get it in them as soon as their born it makes a difference and sets them on the thrive.

Our sheep are resistant to spectam, so have tried thermovite plus, one thing it dose do is get the lambs up and drinking, also after 3 weeks in no sign of any diseases, also organic so no problem with Red tractor. Also used their lifestart blocks which seem better than lifeline buckets, and work out half the price.

Is the NEC a better venue for LAMMA?
