tm270 water temp gauge not working

Hi i have a tm270 10000 hrs in good order but the water temp gauge isn't working, so i never know if the engineerings is running hot, where should i start to trouble shoot ? thanks

Pull the wire off the sender and short it to the metalwork or the block with the ignition on…gauge rises means sender is done,if it doesn’t then wiring or gauge
