To cold for liquid fert?

Our winter crops really need their N2 but the forecast is minus temps for the next 7 days and fairly windy. Today’s weather is suggesting 5 degrees and no wind so it’s good conditions. Shall we do it or will tomorrow’s frosts bite us in the backside?

It’s more conditions at the time and just before that affects liquid N.
I put some on some rape a few years ago just before a frost which ended up much colder than was forecast. There was no frost where each stream of liquid N had gone and no real scorching.

I'd get on with it - when it warms up there will be lots of soft lush growth.

There is a big but... wind worn leaves are dewaxed and recent sprays will also soften the crop up e.g. SU graminicides. I've never noticed damage around frosts but would not dream of applying it to a damp leaf that is going to dry out - that includes one with frost on it.

More important to avoid hot windy conditions than cold, relatively calm ones IMO. As Brisel says, dewaxed leaves can be unhelpful.
