Forgive me Harry (Ferguson) for I have sinned, l had a moment of weakness and felt an almost sexual desire towards a JD :nailbiting:

i must stress, my desire started to droop a bit when the jd branded gent racked these few bits threw the till..

driving home i decided i needed to rid myself of the demon of desire that had started inside me, the best way was to sweat it out. The oven like conditions in the grain tank seemed to do the trick.

Tomorrow my brain will think of nothing else but getting the harvest in, that green tractor will be a distant memory and I promise I will not look at another green tractor in that way ever again.

All we can pray for, is having tinkered the old girl up, i never have to go to that JD shop ever again.

Started the day spraying the Peas off. :)

Then attempted to start combining :nailbiting::nailbiting:

Was to wet at 1pm so put the lifters in as I was missing the flat bits

View attachment 551416

had 1 bit of luck, forgot to put the 2 bolts back in that hold this flap, thankfully the auger spat it out the front and didn't wind it into the drum
Then the fan belts broke, at least I always have a pair spare, still didn't spot it soon enough, and it overheated :banghead:

Then the slip clutch decided to give up on the trunk :banghead:

Wheel off and soon got that sorted (y)

Then discovered why the reverser has stopped reversing

Not the greatest afternoon/evenings work considering I didn't even manage a tank full of Barley

Never a dull moment at our place dad started cutting this morning and after only two tank fulls I observed the combine pull out of the row and on to clear ground shortly followed by dad making a mad dash around the combine lifting up all the covers to find the source of the smoke. What followed was me "muggins" climbing In the grain tank to remove the inspection cover to the back of the engine in 100 degree heat and feeling like a smoked kipper.
Anyway it turns out a hot ember from the manifold had fallen on to the smallest bit of dust and was happily smouldering away.
We're meticulous about cleaning under the tank because these combines love to go up under there but just goes to show how easy these thing happen.

Fire out no damage done and another good days combining.

I then got out of the way and went baling.
