He lost his wallet!hope you didnt leave will alone there
Just rearranging the mud a bit then?Have no fear, it's not that level here anyway, the area is flat, but very few bits are actually 'level', I'm not destroying the precious landscape

A word of warning, others may disagree but DON'T grease the slides on the sliding boom. Then took the boom of the digger ready to start repairing View attachment 601456
I can imagine that being a problem as there isn’t actually a pin on them it’s just a wedge that grips the boom, bet that was scary for you thoughA word of warning, others may disagree but DON'T grease the slides on the sliding boom.
Few years back ours threw the track in the yard & while I sorted it the bro greased the boom slides, good job I thought as I slid it in later....only problem was the pin wasn't in the hole, nothing new there as it's hard to be sure it's in right, so just stop it short & the boom will eventually slide past the hole & pin will drop in.
Next time I started the digger I lifted the boom, as it topped out the boom slid in with such speed it passed the hole shearing the 4 bolts holding the limit stop on & ripped the pivot pipes off the top of the boom, I thought for sure the bucket was coming into the cab to me, but thankfully it stopped about 2 feet short, can still see those bucket teeth coming at me.

Does it take much pulling compared with a mounted trio?

Never looked at how it worked to be honest, just seen the holes in the bottom of the boom & thought it was a pin setup. There is a special slider grease used on the slides, basically really thick grease. They should be greased a little to stop the surfaces wearing as the boom is slid in and out.
There are also spacers/wear strips in the clamps, some had these front and rear, and some had them only in the front clamp, these should be kept to a sensible tolerance by shimming or replacing.
The boom is clamped, not located by a pin. The ram pushes two wedges up at an angle and they clamp the boom tight on the front clamp. The rear is just a slide. Possibly JCBs biggest let down on the powerslide, which I consider one of there best innovations, and one that I really feel they should revisit, was the need for a clamp front and rear on the bigger excavators,
I have had a boom slide in, and it is frightening, mine was operator error though.....I was a plonker....
