Not had chance to post much this week due to some busy evenings so here’s what’s been happening.

New track rod inner on the 7930,

The 7930 exhaust manifold saga continues as I’m still wanting for the new one to come from the states! :banghead:

Got to take this classic for a spin at the airport.

While fitting these post guards I’d modified for them.

Had a 6420 come in with a faulty park lock, which was a broken spring on the side of the transmission housing. It would mean removing the complete transmission to get the spring off the shaft! The guy decided he’d just use the handbrake instead:rolleyes:

Went to get the tele-handler out the shed and found this :banghead: that’s what happens when I leave the old man for a week!

Then picked up this 6420 this’s afternoon for a head gasket and a couple of other jobs.

Made a start stripping it, hopefully get the head away tomorrow for skimming.
Hoping the manifold for the 79 turns up as well:rolleyes:

I think @Phil P was lucky that the fibreglass hood stood the pressure

It’s got reinforced fibreglass on the underside from when he backed into something last time and pushed mirror bracket through the bonnet:banghead:

Hmmm
Parking sensors and bullbar build when you have a spare 5minutes :D

I’m just considering upgrades my staff
It will be cheaper in the long run :ROFLMAO:(y)

Rewarding when the plan comes together:) but frustrating that the exhaust and brackets are shaking themselves to pieces more frequently.:banghead: Changed the 4 engine mounting rubbers last saturday to see if it will help reduce the shakes and then yesterday the new bolt sheared off:(
Do the brackets get hot? Can you mount them on rubber buffer with double stud fittings or weld a flexible joint in the pipe

The engine doesn’t have a balancing shaft so I’ve been told and it is a common problem with the exhaust system vibrating. Silencer has a flexi joint from the turbo. The bolts need to be kept tight otherwise the brackets crack. Exhaust bracket gets hot so rubber mount not an option. Priced up new parts online today but decided to put my head back below the parapet. Wasn’t a cheap or improved option:whistle:

Try putting a longer bolt in and using some spacers on it, it will allow the bolt to expand/retract more without snapping.
Sometimes increasing the idle very slightly help reduce the amount of vibration.
That engine should have balance shafts fitted (unless someone has removed them!) they always seem to vibrate more in the tele-handlers for some reason, they do use a different injector pump to the tractors but don’t think that works cause it.
