Sky’s the limit

The sun most definitely has its hat on. Everything and it seems like everyone is enjoying it.

DW Clark has burst back into action, it is all systems go and some of the sites that had been rained off have dried up nicely. The phone is ringing off the hook for scheduled works, non-scheduled works and enquiries “whilst it is dry”!

A flurry of men and machinery is all you can see for the machinery parking area near Stratford upon Avon. Still a bit to do here but the client is more than happy with how things are progressing, he is also more than happy that we pulled off site when we did but is glad to see us back. Apparently one of the lads is up for the sack after taking incriminating photos of Bossman sunbathing (power napping) at lunchtime!

The oversight works, also near Stratford keep growing. After a visit from building control, who gave us the thumbs up for the storm and sewer pipes, the client decided on concrete chambers for the sewer instead of the standard plastic manholes. Thankfully our suppliers PIpetek of Bidford on Avon took up the challenge and a day after ordering are on site. The lads are getting stuck in, what a gorgeous place to be working though?

Water pipe works near Alcester have had a funny turn. The route of the pipe has been changed so through one hedge, a steady 180° loop and back through another to get back on track. Have to admit, I am impressed with the garden reinstatement works by the guys on site, even the chickens like it!

New dad Edd is back, baby Rowan and wife have left the hospitality of the NHS and are back home. After a visit to the office earlier this week I can honestly say the lad has a good set of lungs on him!!

Would like to take a moment to say a massive thank you to Bosslady Jeanette for the bottle after her 3 legged pit pony won the national last week. Pipped mine by a nose so not spitting nails at all

Friday is here and the weekend looks promising. Don’t forget the sun cream lads, thanks for another great week, it’s nice to see you all smiling in the sunshine.

Cows are out.
Thought I’d give them a couple of days good weather outside instead of turning out in cold and rain next week when I run out of fodder

Finally got out with the drill again today.
Mauled the last field of spring wheat in, except for the headlands cos I ran out of seed:facepalm: dispatched the old man to find 3cwt.

Looks like I’ve got a drain been boiled up to:banghead: only noticed after I’d gone over it

While wait for the old man to get back I went an made a start on some spring barley which was in much better order than the wheat ground.

Then some more spring barley, you may just be able to make out through the dust the farmer who we rent this field off sowing in the next field on his ford duelled up.

Finally, spring has arrived in Crapweathershire....

So you're drilling in "Crapweathershire" with a 2wd but I haven't anything dry enough to plough yet, some ground is too wet to slurry with the pipes and we're making a mess trying to spread fertiliser on grass, despite 800 wide tyres and never filling the spreader :scratchhead:
Any places for sale in Crapweathershire? It sounds like heaven.

Nick Van-Westerholtz spelled that out clearly:

Subsidies are going. It's just a case of how soon.

As for change, many things must change. We all need to reduce our costs to survive. How we farm will change. What we spend money on will change.

I'd be very worried if I sold new farm machinery for a living.

Also, current proposals are that the environment schemes will not actually pay us any profit, just cover their costs. Will it be worth adopting them?
That's the same man that said that beef was going to drop by 16% after brexit iirc. He maybe right, but I wouldn't be listening to much that he said.

Red sandstone. Gets wet quick, but dries quick given half a chance.......
