Just the day for a bit of cutting and welding in the workshop this afternoon, but The Aged Parents had decided that today was the day to sort out the hole in the back of their log burner. The first place they went to said it wasn't repairable, and they needed a new stove and chimney system, and they were just off to get a second opinion from another stove shop when I saw them.
I just know that had they got the same story, they'd have passed over the three or four thousand pounds the shop would want to replace it.
A sweaty hour, and a lump of rusty chequer plate later, and all is ready for the cold weather again! (Probably next week, their idea of cold weather isn't the same as normal people!)
It might not be pretty, but it's twice as thick as the old steel I cut out, and you can't see it when the door's shut anyway!
