Why do you sow Spring Barley now?,and what does it do over Winter?
I first did it years ago purely because I had run out of winter barley seed and had some spare seed left over from the spring.
It yielded the same as the winter crop and was harvested at the same time.
Since then I have sown it if land is available in early November, No extra cost to conventionally grown spring barley, earlier harvest, less risk pf wind damage and less work in spring when I have lots to do with higher value crops.

Presumably it would only work on very light land? And would a very severe Winter kill it off?

Puma cvx 170 on the asa lift harvester.

2x puma 130 and a puma 145 on the boxwagons.
Sorry for the dirty windscreen. Everything gets covered in mud in this job, including the cabfloor because every load you have to get out to nail the labels on the boxes.

In the afternoon collegue got back and I fetched a load of wheat for the turkeys. Almost 21 tonnes, makes the little jxu work a bit.

And the next day I did some cultivating for the dutch version of nature england at home. Nice views!

After a considerable battle i got the barstewarding thing out. The lower hose jubilee clip would not undo, could get close enough with anything to cut it. Set about trying to undo the other end at the water pump instead but couldn't get access without loosening the radiator and removing the cowl first. All this while kneeling on the outer edges of the body work in a fleece with no zip and work gloves that that soak though in the drizzle in minutes.

On with weld procedure quals again today after a fair amount of research and trial and error! ESAB turned up at the last hour but we were pretty much sorted by then...

Vertical up and overhead runs with flux cored wire, now with the desired penetration and fusion:

We had solid wire in the machine when the examiner turned up so decided to run a new multi position procedure in solid wire as well:
