We’ve given up for the time being with one field of beet to go, if no rain by next week think it will get irrigated before drilling, just spent a day (2 of us) changing tines on our Jones bedformer

This field had rye on it a week ago and was wet underneath when it was ploughed but has baked off quick. Idealy i would of powerharrowed and bedded same day. That fine and sandy now cant get it to hold in the chambers. A gust of wind and it will be flat again [emoji85]

Started clearing a site today for a cart lodge for another barn conversion.previously there had been a cattle shed there and the stuff I found was unreal.on a bank on one side of the shed, probably 100ft long there is endless net wrap, string, syringes, medicine bottles, markers and surgical gloves.ive never come across so much rubbish, ever.the farmer who rented the property just chucked stuff out of the side of the shed and left it.no wonder stockmen get a bad reputation.no idea what we going to do with it either

Just be careful that you don't get kids with a box of matches sneaking around at night

I wasn’t looking forward to today.
Firstly because I had to take a 7 week old calf from his condemned mother (planned):

Then his 4 year old tb reactor mother had to be sent off (also planned):

Then I ran over my companion of 16 years (unplanned,!) Luckily it looks as if the most serious injury was a dislocated hip. Still feeling sorry for himself though.
