Is that what I’d refer to as shale.must give your buckets hell digging through that.is your bucket a home made one.never seen one like it.the ground around here is 8/10 inches of top soil and straight on to yellow clay which is ok when moist or wet but a bugger when dry and then it breaks up like a fine powder and is really hard to dig.its also great for getting stuck in buckets

I guess you would call it shale yes, there’s about 10 foot of it then it’s proper stuff that needs a proper machine to dig it, generally it’s clay round here though.
It’s a proper bought bucket from Lammer engineering up Scotland, hell of a thing
