I am about 3 weeks behind with posting these photos. A couple of weeks before harvest, a stormy night put over 50% of the crop down nearly on the ground. It made it a bit of a challenge for the contractor's combine driver! That and all the other usual things, like wet ground after so much rain, broken belts, etc, etc

Yesterday. Fodder rape about 4 bale/acre... so some made it into the baler. Chased baler with handler and trailers

This is not our land, the farmer who own's it wanted it off as it is next to a river. Not my decision

Yeh. Maize must pay bloody well for it to be worth that quagmire.
(But I expect our neighbours say that about our pigs. But it doesn't. We just don't see any other options and/or don't think it's all that bad. )

Do you always lift with the tops on?

Yes. Lift about a months worth at a time when a weather window appears. So tops don't rot much. Did try with topper but it either cut off too much or knocked them over. Besides the tops are fodder as well . Harvester rubs most off later on.
