You've still a fair way to go as you can see the combine, I did a 100 acre patch of peas on sand and gravel land after a spell of weather like this. I had to cut round and round as I couldn't see the next bout back down the field. At least as I went round and round the dust haze had somewhat settled. No looping the corners either, lift the header reverse turn and get back cutting!

So what was already a planned manic day turned somewhat hotter when the guy who owns this cottage decided to come down from Oxford yesterday after not being down since March and trim his garden a bit and then light it, not realising we’ve been in a pretty much continuous drought since March… around 6 acre or 8’ high gorse gone, wind changed direction a few times but never once towards his cottage 😮
4 fire engines, 6 hours later their still at it.
Old reservoir 200 metres away we used to use for spuds, the non local brigade said it was too small so they’d have to go 2.5 miles back to the hydrant 😂😂😂
I said if you drain 4m gallon with a single 2” hose on a petrol pump you’ll be doing seriously well 😂
I was having phone calls from people 15 mile away as they could see it was with me…

Weren’t you talking about the surprising lack of fires in the last day or two?
