I have had a mare of a day, firstly my new to me vaderstad 300 (pictured drilling grass at the beginning of September) will not calibrate. It was a job to get the grass set right but I did and it drilled true so I put down to my inexperience with the machine.
So I had to dig the combi drill from the back of the shed, the box doesn't work and neither do the bout markers but it's never been a problem until today, couldn't see my mark from the pass before because of how the light was hitting the bank. Good job it's in the middle of the farm and very few people will see it.
Misses and overlaps 😭😭😭

Last Wednesday when I started it one morning she turned over very lazily but struck up, I left her to warm up for 10 mins then jumped in to leave for work, she went 3 yards and stopped with a bang
Firstly I thought it was electrical problems as she wouldn’t crank over, and with it starting badly I thought it may be off a battery, 20 mins of cleaning terminals and replacing a broken terminal I had plenty of power to the motor but she still wouldn’t crank.
Got my favourite pry bar on the fly wheel and it was solid, I could turn the engine a wee bit back and forth but it was stuck
We feared a melted piston so I pushed her into the shed and took the head off. All looked good in the head and all pistons moved the half inch the the engine would move.
Next I took the timing cover off fearing a dropped cog or something jamming the gears, it was all good,
Running out of ideas I thought she may have spun a shell but didn’t think I could move the engine if it had picked up a shell.
I was then advised to remove the shaft to the gearbox and the bloody engine swings like a good one!
So now I have stripped the engine for nothing!
So today I managed to get the hedgecutter off, and the Herder hedgecutter sub frame off from under the chassis ready to split the back end. I then spent 2 hours blowing 12,000 hours worth of hedgecuttings off from around the chassis!
starting to clean the engine up ready for a rebuild
