Tanalised gateposts, the gift that just keeps giving, about every 8 years. :(

Put this one in April - didn't make it to 6 months

One of the last of a bundle bought in 2011

We don't have milk cows anymore , but when we did , I can never remember ever resenting going out on Christmas morning to milk and "do up" . We had the milk cows tied by the neck in conventional stalls , and fed hay to them in the stalls . I'm not at all of a religious nature , well , not formal religion anyway , but there was a magic to opening the doors on Christmas morning , and the quiet, peaceful atmosphere . and the sweet smell of the hay and cows' breath , --- it was almost enough to bring you to tears . I suppose it must have been the same other days , but without a doubt Christmas day had a magic to it .

I don't resent Christmas morning work either and, to be fair, most of the staff that I have had over the last 30 years volunteer for it.

Not keen on Christmas afternoon though.
Don`t mind a couple of hours work each end of Christmas day. Especially afternoon, The sanity of the cows away from the madness in the house, the shite on telly & the cows don`t give me a bollocking if the brussel sprouts are having their usual effect :D

Used to really enjoy Christmas afternoon milking, niceto get out of the house Into the cool air, one of our cousins would bring out tea and cake part way through before going back in to games and cards perhaps before supper.

Used to be a big houseful back in those days, sadly most no longer with us.

Fortunately the cows aren't here either.
