Today at work

Have been playing about with blocked drains on and off for months now and finally got them sorted about two weeks ago. Unfortunately someone years ago had tried opening a ditch to the wettest part snd cut through the main twice! It was a 5” main aswell so managed this week to source some couplers, repair and sort the outfall out. As the spoil from this new “ditch” was just lumped everywhere I used a riddle bucket to sort it out and managed to get four 4in1 bucket full of fairly decent stone! The rest was used for a cheap and cheerful headwall!! Levelled what was left of the soil and it will need a few trailer loads to tidy up

That’s me done playing with water hopefully. Didn’t have a photo of the old 655 at work or could of gone to the classics at work thread!!!

Bitterly cold here, felt sorry for the bulling heifers, ejected from their nice warm winter pen as room needed for the next generation so I put some rubbish hay bales out for them to get behind - no hedges at all in this field protecting it from the easterly blast, there will be but we have only just planted them and they are currently withering due to lack of time to water them.

It has been crazy dry, I wonder if half the hedges planted this winter will make it

not the prettiest job I’ve ever done but 3 feet of slop in places and the drains are now emptying properly

I’ve advised giving it a quick clean late summer when it’s settled a bit, wether they will or leave it another 20 years to get in this state remains to be seen
How do you find the tree shear working on your digger? I’ve got a cat 307 and I’m tempted to buy a shear but it’s not got a double acting service at the moment.

It does handle it, but mines a heavy shear and you know its on. Mines not double acting either so we put an electric solenoid block on, it works ok when you get used to it, you have to press the pedal to send the oil round the new block then activate the service using the buttons on top of the joysticks. Was time critical when we did it so was the quickest way, and cheapest as I’ve now got 2 aux so can use a rotating grab as well

I have a grey import 307 with a shear on it and it’s great, I have a knuckle boom so just a have a manual diverter to valve between the two and just move it over to operate it

Yes I thought about doing something similar. Does it have enough oil flow or is it slow.
