Finally a dash of rain, not nearly enough but as the say every little helps. Thankfully Boss Man Chris and Brother Paul got their harvest finished before the rains came.

The week began with us finishing off the water pipe repair/replacement out Warwick way. We only had the tarmac to replace, and tidy up the site.

The tarmac surfacing went really well and would have gone even better if some eejut had not used his left handed abacus, calculator with no batteries, ran out of fingers or even simply double checked his figures! That missing tonne would have been so helpful on the day it was needed. . . . . woops my bad, sorry!!

Amongst other things, King Kev have been helping Brother Paul shift muck for a few days this week. This can only mean that the drive to work and back may some time soon have a fruity aroma 😊

Cool Hand Luke has been finishing off the outfall pipe for the new sewage treatment plant, plus being a super hero and unblocking a drain that was apparently fit to burst. The client was very worried about the “bursting” bit as it was about to burst into their kitchen. This afternoon both he and Kev are trying to unblock the outfall from a sewage treatment plant. I bet neither of them can wait until next week when the draining starts. . . .

. . . . Yes, the 15/15 has been “Dillybobed” in readiness for the upcoming drainage. All serviced and polished ready to rock and roll. Boss Man Chris took the first load of plant over this morning so all being well and with a good wind we are draining Monday.

On about DillyBob, this week he admitted to me that he may be eating too many biscuits. . . well he never said that exactly, it was more “I bent over and my shorts split!! I had to go the shop with my pants showing!” Now there was a vision I never thought I would have on a Tuesday morning!! Bless him, bigger, more forgiving, elasticated and triple stitched shorts have been acquired.

The end of another good week lads, thanks for all the graft and the giggles along the way. Have a most fabulous weekend and see you all on Monday to do it all again. ‘Till then, stay safe and stay smiley.

Hi ARW, do you have to apply for deregulation to cut your hedges early or just cut with the intention of sowing OSR ?
I have a field I intend to sow with oilseed but it may not get done if I get to busy, if you know what I mean

You apply for a deregulation to trim hedges before 1st of sept to sow OSR or grass seeds.
If I were you I would just trim it and get on, the dates don’t reflect a variable farming calendar, it’s a dreamt up rule that is pointless, we cut as many hedges in august as we did before the rule change, it just adds extra psychological stress for an imaginary date. Cut your hedges, by September 1st all the worrying was pointless and forgotten
