Today at work

Another week down and all still very busy.

Monks Kirby finished and the drainage gang moved down to Lydney. All hands on deck down there as the client has asked “that question”!! Whilst your drainer is down here, any chance you could have a look a couple more jobs please?. . . Of course we can we are DW Clark Drainage, flexible, accommodating and always like to help.

The finishing touches were put in at Campden last Friday, quite a bit different now to when we first got to site! A happy client who should now have happy employees as they will no longer have to dodge puddles when walking from the car park to the offices.

Picked up a nice job near Shipston on Stour, nearly 1000 metres of 300mm twin wall pipe over two separate runs. One is replacing an existing outlet from a pool/lake as age has gotten the better of it and it has started to collapse. The other is to replace an existing main, again getting a little old and tired. Both have laterals coming into them so we are picking these up along the way, the lads have found water too!

Still no rain locally, plenty of grey clouds but they fail to provide a drop of the wet stuff. Even I am beginning to think we could do with a bit of a soaking now. Seed is not germinating, fields are looking brown and some have even wondered why we are putting in drainage. At this point I always ask if they remember a few months ago when their daily footwear was wellies . . . “Oh yes, that was very wet that was” is a standard reply!!

Yet again lads you have done us proud, thanks for all the graft, have a cracker of a weekend and we will see you all Monday.

Of course now is when the batteries finally give up and need a charge
:(
Had to empty the flat bed where i've been storing my food in this dry weather, ready to go to the mill this morning and collect next week's supply, figured this should keep the free range weaners out of it over night. Full bag raised and wedged from drifting down by the container and a cab full of part bags

Still saw a rat in the cab last thing at night though :banghead::banghead: I don't know how he managed it unless he was in the bag when i chucked it in

Severe weather warning today for heavy rain.

From the radar this looks like it is the lot - could have done some very precision fert spreading on the grass I suppose.....

Winter barley in the shed though, straw will wait until Monday - no point trying to cart straw with the Romford Navy filling our coastal roads with their huge 4 by 4s and big power boats.

Put bull back in with cows this afternoon after his little holiday.
And just given them a bag of corn tonight. I think they appreciated it after chewing on dead grass again.

I need serious rain now.
I’ve got enough old bales and grazing for 2 weeks
After that I’m into whatever winter forage I have (which is only 40% off what I need)

I can see something being sold as I can’t afford to keep them all.
Poor buggers :(
