First time posting on this thread so thought I'd start with an over view of this season so far. Here we go!

New Baler
IMG_0827.JPG

When I ordered the baler I was told 3 days to get it to me and a day and a half to pdi. Nearly took 3 weeks! Had one hay job left then straight into straw with new baler and the round baler.

Forage analysis and nutrition products have been busy this summer too. This unable our customers to supplement their forage (hopefully we've made;)) correctly. Using the results a custom supplement packed can be created using buckets, bags, drench and bolus's depending on need of the animal and customer requirements. (Not a sales pitch just an explanation )

Hope you've enjoyed the brief journey through the ups and downs of this season.

Thats the next option, they weren't high tensile, going to source some in the morning, 8.8 probably not good enough for the job it seems

I may not be thinking straight this morning, but I’m sure the nuts are no different on an 8.8 or a 12.9 for instance. The bolt is the bit with the tensile strength. The nuts are all standard and therefore the same.

However, you should be able to get deeper nuts, ie with more threads in them.
It may have been you, being over zealous with tightening them? They may have been crap quality nuts to begin with? I’m guessing they were supplied with the machine?

If I was you, I’d go to your nearest fastening supplier and get some 10.9 bolts and deep section nuts. But I think, even though you put it together, you should alert the dealer, as they are supplying the machine and presumably the bolts with it, they could be a batch of poor quality nuts, and it could save someone else having the trouble you have had.

Draw bar snapped on the baler, dug into the verge and flipped the baler around on the bale bandit. Twisted the chamber and axel! Pulled all the pipes off the top of the baler and the spool block over on the tractor. The bandit come of the best with a new shoot and pipes. I've now fitted a big square baler style safety chain. Lesson learned!

September is starting to fill the early mornings with a familiar Autumnal feeling. There has been some beautiful early morning sun and bright blue skies.

Works are progressing well in all areas, wet spotting near Charlbuy, drainage near Hinckley and the house works at Stratford upon Avon.

Charlbury is an estate where we have worked for many years installing drainage, carrying out ditching works, installing water pipes etc. The current works are simply sorting out wet spots. One man and his digger, spare pipe and lots of searching. Going well so far, nothing too serious but the pipes we have found are old clay tiles that have either collapsed, full of silt and clay or not even connected to anything!

The house at Stratford is rolling on, we are nearly up to required finished levels, building control and client are still both very happy with our works so far. As soon we have finished this we move on to install the foul drains, drainage and water supply. The lads on site are quite enjoying this job, it is a tad different to the norm and the client is asking for more as we progress, which we don’t mind in the slightest, although they are a little concerned as there is chatter that the tea shed has got to be demolished . . . have not heard rumblings of mutiny yet!

The drainage team are still on at full pace, we have a lot of drainage to do before the weather becomes a factor to seriously consider. The lads are pushing on as fast as they can to keep ahead of it and they are doing well. Still up around the Hinckley area, still a very happy client who keeps giving us more to do and we are still not complaining about that.

Been another good week lads, thanks again for all your hard work as always it is greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend and I will see you all in a couple of weeks :)
